ADDIS ABABA – China Chamber of Commerce (CCCE) in Ethiopia donated 500,000 washable masks and 10,000 forehead thermometers which valued 11 million Birr to support the reopening of primary schools amid COVID-19 yesterday.
Receiving the donation, Ministry of Education (MoE) Minister Dr. Eng, Getahun Mekuria said: “ When we met with Chinese Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Chinese Embassy, Mme. Liu Yu a couple of months back we used to discuss the possibilities of mobilization of resource ,especially on washable masks and thermometer .”
As to him, it did not take Lu a couple days or months to secure 500,000 washable masks and 10,000 infrared thermometers.
Minister Consular for Economic and Commerce Affairs of the Chinese Embassy Mme Liu Yu said :“ It is hoped that the donation of CCCE could help schools better prepare for reopening and reduce the COVID-19 risks exposed students.”
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, 26 million school students had been affected by the closure of the schools. But schools have started to reopen gradually in recent months.
